Not true. He played the first tournament of the year in HI. He choked in the playoff.

I neglected to check on that tourney, as it was at the beginning of the year, thinking the new year for golf started the following week.

what happened to Finau? he had a 2 shot lead heading to 16. I ran out to grab lunch for the family and missed the end of the tournament. I'm glad Simpson won because I had him on my fantasy team this week, but I feel bad for Finau.

It was like Groundhog day on the 18th. In both cases Simpson and Finau were putting from approximatley the same place and had the exact same results on both the finishing and playoff.

Nothing against Simpson, he manned up, and deserved the win, but I was hoping Finau would finally get another tournament win. That had to hurt blowing a 2 stroke lead with two to play.

He didn't blow a two stroke lead. He pared out his last five holes after back to back birdies. Simpson charged at the end with two birdies to tie, he could have easily missed one of those two birdie putts. As the leader you are trying not to make a mistake and Finau didn't. Had he bogeyed 17 or 18 you could say he blew the lead.
