This is good.  Less than 7 mil on a one-year deal.  If he performs, we can extend him, if not, back to the market next winter.  

Also, it leaves us money to pursue another starter.  I just hope that if it is Price, Boston pays at least 60 mil of the 96 million owed.

He's still a major upgrade over Stassi's .136 batting average.

Good deal. Angels are really just now needing to swing a deal for one more arm, or snag a vet RP or two from being in pretty good shape. Lots of solid vet relievers on the market still. Might be easier to add one or two.

And FWIW, they could still deal from the Thaiss/Goodwin/Rengifo/La Stella contingent for that rotation help and look to replace via FA by way of  ranging from Castellanos to Thames to Starlin Castro. They could always add a SP prospect in a deal with those and sign Walker or Wood too. 

Castro should be good for .200/.300/.400/.700 and a league average OPS+.

Really happy with this signing. For me it was a toss up between Castro and Chirinos, but I leaned a little toward Castro because he bats left.

Angels have around $20.15M left to spend before they hit the tax. I still expect a significant trade. Either before season or at the deadline. I think they still pursue Boyd once his asking price drops below wanting Marsh.

Plenty of money left to trade for a good starter now. Angels don't seem so desperate now that their 1-9 lineup is set. Price for Boyd could drop
