Angels sign Anthony Rendon (7 years, $245 million)

I still don’t view signing Rendon as a bad decision.  The guy was a stud in his prime at an obvious position of need.

The outcome is certainly disappointing.  But this is nothing like trading for Wells, signing GMJr, or Hamilton.

Every signing or trade has risks and can turn out bad.  Some you see the risk up front and maybe you gamble anyway.  Those are the ones to regret.

But the Rendon signing had no red flags.  Great bat, great defense, in his prime, good teammate, winning pedigree, etc.

Yes it was a big contract, but if you are going to pass on players because they are expensive, then good luck competing.

Anyway, I am very disappointed in the outcome of the Rendon signing, as everyone should be.  But this is not a good example of the Angels being stupid.

Sometimes bad luck happens.

That’s why it feels more disappointing. The team made the right move by signing him but he’s been a dud and the Halos are stuck with him. Oh well, hopefully he can produce moving forward but I’m not counting on it

I still hope he can be productive.  I have not given up hope.  I am still happy to see his name in the lineup.

Character matters. When you laugh after failing to get a bunt down, you have none.

Good lord. Some of you are truly mad.

I am going to break it to you, there is no way a major leaguer with his level of success doesn't care even if it is only about their numbers.
