I think it's Rendon + a couple arms or BUST

Why?  What’s he done on the trade market to make you feel this way?

It's c about the human condition of desperation. When people are out into extreme circumstances, their actions reflect their environment. Or to use one of those football analogies Eppler likes, his play calling has basically forced him into a 4th and long situation with time running out and his team is down by a couple touchdowns.

The natural outcome here is a move that otherwise would not be a wise one to make.

Also, in addition to improving the pitching (which adding two pitchers + Ohtani and Bundy), signing Rendon is a must in that our offense needs to keep pace with some of the best in the league like Houston, Yankees, Twins, White Sox, Red Sox and keep Rendon away from our division rivals in the Texas Rangers. If they add Rendon you can slot us firmly into the 4th place spot in the AL West for the next 3-4 years.

Uh, Rendon would definitely be in improvement over everyone in our infield except Simmons. I also think he'll make a pretty good 1B over the latter half of this contract, which is definitely a big need.

Not to mention - it's not like having an abundance of Infielders is a bad thing. It would allow us to include Fletcher, La Stella, Rengifo, or even Simmons in a trade for a pitcher.

Uh Rendon is not a pitcher, and you don't pay 35 million to a player you don't need in order to trade the player he's replacing in exchange for one that you do need. It makes you overly reliant on an inconsistent and unpredictable market and is just plan reckless and unwise.

Yea, ok.  He won’t panic.  Some people would, some people won’t.  You are in the hate Eppler mode right now so whatever deal he makes you will assume he is panicking.  So if he goes out and gets Darvish and Contreras and it costs us Marsh plus you will call it desperation.

Yes it’s a win win to get a Rendon because not only do you now have your protection for Trout, you keep him away from the Rangers.

No thanks to a 7 WAR 3B for a team trying to be more relevant and a team that hasn’t had a legit 3B in how long?

I guess I forgot that weed is legal now.

No thanks to 35 million a year on a 3B you don't need when your starting rotation is currently Bundy, Heaney and Canning.

No that's a good move. Darvish is an ace. But if it's Marsh and Adams for freakin Boyd or Ray..... That's desperation.

Come on man, youre over reacting a ton right now.
First you forgot Ohtani, second we will be adding more pitching, just not super star level guys.
If you cant get the impact you need from an arm, you get it from a bat.   Either way the team gets better.

If the Angels sign Rendon, they wouldn’t ignore their rotation, obviously. Rendon would just be the final piece to the puzzle to make the Angels legit postseason contenders.

Is there enough money to get Ryu, take on Darvish's contact AND get Rendon? Because if there was, chances are Gerrit Cole would be an Angel.

Silly is reality apparently. Because silly days that the rotation n is currently not good enough and you want to spend 35 million on a non pitcher.

if we sign Rendon, do you honestly think he will be paid $35M in 2020?

Aren't the Angels already relying on an inconsistent and unpredictable market as we stand now? Even if we sign Ryu and Madbum, there is a pretty high chance those guys all decline.  Another way to say it: Rendon would be the third best player on our team right away, and would probably give Simmons a a challenge at #2 right now. You would pass on that production -- which may not affect other FA decisions,, but will certainly free-up trade assets- just because pitching sucks? This is like telling a fat guy not to lose weight because he's also short.

Did you think I thought he was a pitcher?  So if you had $35 million to spend in free agency right now what would you do?  Would you split it up amongst Ryu and Keuchel or Bum?  Take the best player you can get, which is Rendon and make trades to fill the holes that your free agency dollars can’t fill.
