Looks like JW's going back to the pen after Saturday

I know they want to keep him stretched out for multiple innings and spot starts (which has value) but what about Jerome as a closer?  I think he has the stuff for it and he seems to handle pressure pretty well.

Never thought about this, but that wouldn't maximize his talent. I'd rather use him as a spot starter or long relief. I don't think we need a closer that badly.

I agree that it probably isn't maximizing his value but if he was effective it would improve the overall bullpen putting Ernesto in a setup role and on down from there.

But we would be weakest in our starting pitching.

I'm starting to wonder if Scioscia has a personal preference for certain players.

We already know Scioscia loves the swarthy dudes.  Maybe Jerome should change his name to "Jerome Santana."

has there been a statement indicating this was going to happen?

An article, I believe on the main site, spells out the pitching schedule until the off day. I assume that Williams turn will be missed after that. I did not see a ststement definitively stating this, but I think it's happening.

This is what I alluded to.

Well, we all know that Mike loves his veterans, so if Jerome isn't in the starting rotation I doubt it has anything to do with personal preferences. He gets killed on here for being loyal to a fault, so why wouldn't he be more loyal to Jerome than he would be to Blanton?
