Eppler is in the last year of his contract and is basically fighting for his professional life after the debacle of last season... I doubt that he's advising against it.

There is virtually no chance he wouldn’t get another gig if this one doesn’t work out.

1. We said the same thing about Scioscia.

2. A GM job has to be available.

3. "No chance" is simply not true. Maybe it's unlikely, but you never know.

4. Baseball is a funny game and largely unpredictable.
