‘Losing a war that you weren’t informed of’: Some MLB pitchers are livid over electronic sign stealing

There is zero chance this is about hiding some dirty secret.  Why would pitchers keep a secret that is hurting their ability to do their job?  It’s asinine to think this is anything other than players being pissed off about another team cheating to gain a competitive advantage.

So you don’t think that Astros (and many other teams) pitchers also used pine tar to gain an advantage?

Sure thanks for the giant leap from here to there, I appreciate it.  Do I get frequent flyer miles?

My point is that players cheat and sadly it’s a way of MLB life. But you know what? The owners, coaches, managers, players don’t really give a hoot until the fans stop showing up.

No but I’m willing to bet that they’re more pissed at Mike Fiers for exposing major league baseball players as professionally paid cheats.

Yes lets assume every player is a cheat to this level... makes perfect nonsense but fits in with the way things work today i suppose.

There is a titanic difference between what players do on the field and something that is sanctioned by an entire organization.
Are you suggesting this is on the same level as pine tar etc?
Players get the death penalty in some cases for steroids... this is even more egregious, its tantamount to the team supplying them.
This is easily the worst team wide cheating scandal i can think of in recent history, to compare this to literally anything else weve seen since the black sox is simply not factual.

The league knew something was wrong in 2017. Was Yu Darvish really tipping his pitches in Games 3 and 7?

MLB should penalize itself for basically doing little or nothing.

pine tar is not the same thing by any stretch. hitters allow pitchers to usepine tar because they know it's about control of the ball, rather than designed cheating. are hitters allowing the pitchers a little bit of an an advantage with the tar? yes, but not because of altruism, rather they'd prefer not to be drilled in the head by a pitcher who's lost grip due to sweat.

So I’m sure that you’ll agree a pitcher using pine tar can also help improve their performance. Like enhancing their chances of lowering their ERA?

Thats not even close to justification for what the team did, but you could make that same argument for steroids and a number of other things.

H6iw about a socialist society where everyone is equal socially, financially, and politically.   Both are equally viable!

If we elect Pocahontas or Bernie, they should tax luxury box owners so the rest of us can get into games for free.

And they should include free nachos.

listen, i'm the fair minded guy that gives you the benefit of the doubt. hell, i even agree with you from time to time. but if you're going to ignore the point i made by only responding to half my statement, then what's the point?

as i said, originally, hitters will allow the advantage of pine tar used by pitchers because they know it's not about competitive advantage, it's about grip. the hitters would prefer not to have out of control 96 mph heaters coming at their head. the point is, although it is ultimately against the rule book, it's not being done for cheating's sake.
