Astros accused of high-tech sign-stealing scheme during 2017 championship season

I read the article. It only states the Astros, Red Sox and Yankees were involved in electronic sign stealing.

The belief, according to the Astros sources The Athletic spoke with, was that other teams were already engaged in high-tech sign stealing, so the Astros involved were trying to create their own system.

We know this to be at least partially true. Electronic sign-stealing is something that is an issue all around Major League Baseball, almost certainly more than the common fan knows.

Did you read the article? It literally states it in the article that most the teams are doing this. Come on.. Don't just read the headline.

No, it doesn’t. It says ‘they believed that’. This is the team that said they weren’t spying on the Yankees with cameras. They were using cameras to see if the Yankees were spying on them. Until there’s strong evidence to the contrary, all we have records and evidence for is the Astros doing this.

Could it be league wide? Sure. Still, the Astros are the name that always comes up. You can even find clear examples online of them doing it.

This is bad. like really bad stuff... Ive never had a problem with players on the field doing creative things to try to tip each other, it goes with the game, always has, but this is next level stuff.
We used to do a thing where which knee we put out hand on was where the catcher was setup and we would tuck fingers under to try to tip the pitch... thats baseball.
I personally think they should forfeit draft picks and face severe punishments for it, but they wont.
But, the the Patriots did it and everyone still think Belichek and Brady are GOATs so... probably nothing in the long run.

Fines and a loss f draft picks are on their way for the Astros. They may even lose international bonus slots for this. Last time Boston got in trouble, he warned the league that stiffer penalties would include draft pick forfeiture.

This has video evidence and is dialogued by multiple players and video is now surfacing of it occurring during the playoffs too.

According to the belief of unnamed sources is not proof of anything.

This is infuriating. MLB needs to take stern action to ensure this never happens again:

1. Void the Astros 2017 WS Title, and declare no team a winner.

2. Void Altuve's 2017 MVP Title and give it to Trout instead. I knew there was something fishy about a 3"6 midget hitting like Ted Williams. Wtf.

3. Suspend AJ Hinch for the entire 2020 season without pay.

4. Astros will forfeit their #1 and #2 draft pick for the next 10 seasons.

5. Investigate which players willfully participated in this and suspend them 60 games next season, starting with Evan Gattis.

1. Not a chance.

2. Not gonna happen. Even in that scenario, it wouldn’t be Trout. Judge came in 2nd.

3. The closest one to possible. Still won’t happen. He might get fined.

4. Draft pick loss, maybe. Ten years? 😂

5. Yeah, that isn’t happening either.

From the article it looks like every team is doing this.... So everyone should return their MVP trophy since cameras were invented. Let's just get rid of baseball. Then we won't have anyone ever trying to cheat...

are you advocating cheating? what the hell is your point? using technology to steal signs is against the rules. it's not a little thing, it's cheating systemically.

Betcha it's more than sign-stealing - https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/how-stephen-strasburg-avoided-tipping-his-pitches-against-the-astros-in-the-world-series/

Probably had cameras on Strasburg's hand's - be interesting if those same thuds were heard in that game ...

they mix up their cues so as to not get caught, but players and coaches are cagey m'fers and recognize some subtle shit.

Lol...Gattis hasn’t played since 2018 because nobody wants to sign his fat ass.  So yes, he suspended himself by being a one dimensional fat ass.
