As a catcher you almost have to give the spot and slide to it when the pitch is on its way. Without giving up the location. Then your framing is late.

For me, this is 100% ok.  Its always been there, if they can p;ick it up and relay it that fast its fine... the cameras and beating on trash cans,  whole other discussion.

It's crazy they do it the entire game too, not just in clutch situations. There's video of them doing it to the first batter in the first inning. How did no one notice this until recently? I imagine the opposing team could hear it all game? Just assume it's one of those guys beating on the drum like at the Indians games?
