The Angels competition for FA pitchers

As we know, there will be some solid competition for Cole's services this off season.   That could take a while to play out.  I like our chances because of where we are at financially and the fact that it seems his preference to move out west.  

Where things get a little dodgy is for that additional arm.  That second guy we so desperately need.  Even if we do land Cole that's not where the story ends.  There is going to be some serious competition from top teams not only probably for Cole but also for the market below him.  

The yankees are losing Sabathia this year and both Tananka and Paxton are free agents after 2020

The dogs are losing Hill and Ryu this year and Kershaw is aging and a FA after 2021

Washington could lose Strasburg this year, Scherzer after 2021, and Sanchez after 2020 if they don't exercise his 12m option for 2021.

The phils need pitching and likely won't exercise Arrieta's 2/40m after 2020.  

Houston will likely be looking for a rotation arm assuming they lose Cole and Miley.  

Plus a slew of other teams who will be hard to predict like the white sox, rangers, Dbacks, Brewers, Cubs, Padres, and Reds.  

I know it's not unusual for teams to need pitching, but while there seems to be more options this year, there also seems to be more need than usual.  

I hope the Angels go after one of their primary targets in that 2nd tier very early.
