With Maddon aboard, I'm curious to see who they recruit to fill out the rest of the coaching staff. I doubt free agents care one way or another who the bench coach is or who the pitching coach is, but it does seem like it'd be useful information, maybe even beneficial when pursuing free agent pitchers.

I'm also wondering if our base coaches will be replaced or not.

Hopefully immediately following the World Series, if not sooner.

Why don't you just ask @Tank?

i'd happily be the bench coach or third base coach. no interest in being pitching coach.

i'd also be extremely willing to be the lunch coach. they clearly need help with their conditioning, and i've got just the right plan for all of them.

No one is asking you to be a coach... just when the team will be hiring one!

Not self-aware are you?

Gallego will likely not be brought back.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Butcher or Callaway back, as they both have links to the Angels 2002 team. Butcher was the pitching coach in Salt Lake and Callaway was in the rotation as effectively the sixth starter.

Who gives a crap whether they have ties to the 02 team? Nostalgia? That doesn’t win games.

Yeah, no.

It’s a fan thing. Fans are stupid.

Arte is a billionaire. He’s not stupid.

I've seen him interviewed about how he wants to get back to the 2002 spirit. So It's not just a Fan Thing.

That doesn’t mean bring back a bunch of people with connections to the 02 team.

Percival as the pitching coach? That would bring some grit to the staff. Would still like to see Salmon as a coach not just a spring training instructor. Nostalgia? Yeah, but I think they have a lot to offer as coaches.

Then why has no one else hired them? Hiring the old boys club is one of the dumbest narratives that way too many fans want.

Personally, I want to win. You do that by hiring the best people. I've seen no indication that any of those guys have the ability to be talented coaches in mlb just because they were former star players.

Sorrento and Reed are returning as hitting coaches more than likely.  Collectively, they've done a bang up job.  Gallego, if not on the big league staff will still be employed by the organization.  He's an Eppler guy, through and through.  Eric Chavez has long been rumored for a coaching position, but thus far, he's stayed out of the dugout, and you have to think he's had opportunities, either here or elsewhere to coach.  He logged some time as the manager in Salt Lake.  Most reports seemed to indicate that he enjoyed it, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him slide into a bench coach or 3B coach role.

The one I really care about is the pitching coach.  I still think it's going to be Jim Hickey, but I'd be very open to Calloway or even Searage.  Then again, Hickey left Chicago after only one season after reuniting with Maddon.  Maybe there was a rift?  Calloway makes a lot of sense though.
