As of this morning, 7500+ acres burned but only 19% contained. One death from a coronary attack. So far some 30 bldgs destroyed.

So now what?  If you keep the power lines on, fires start.  If you turn them off, and turn them on, fires start.  If you keep them off, then economy and businesses suffer.  And people will complain the power is off.

Removing or reducing the amount of fuel, i.e. tree branches near lines, dead trees, dead brush, dead leaves, etc. would help reduce the likelihood or severity of fires.  Obviously we've built into areas where people didn't used to necessarily live but the state has let this issue become worse due to inaction for decades.  I guess as long as people can make fun of Trump for his raking comments and the rest of the country can make fun of California for not doing something so simple to reduce the risk and damage it's a win to some.
