If we had any sense we’d kick Chinese citizens out of our schools. Educating your enemy is about the stupidest thing a country can do.

we have a program with a school in beijing where they send 60+ students to our private christian school every year. if we lost these students, we'd be hurt in a big way. otoh, we've lost american students because of having chinese kids here. we originally started this program to bring in more income for our school. it's saved our bacon because without these foreign students, our school would have cut significant numbers of staff several years ago. we're in a catch-22.

How many students are there at your school?

I have a problem with this being allowed in the US.

many do. as i said, we lost students over it because their parents didn't want their kid stuck in a room with students who aren't americans.

the other argument is a political one, and there are many who agree with you.

And nothing of value was lost for your school. Fuck those people.

It's actually completely understandable. Foreign students can slow the classroom schedule down. I'm sure Tank can vouch that they have different needs learning curves than students who were raised in this country.

initially, that's true. their school sent us their best and brightest, and with very few exceptions, the chinese kids adapted pretty well and our students (particularly in the lower grades) liked having them here. the junior high kids were kind of iffy about them and haven't really embraced the chinese kids all that much, even though our program is about 15 years old.

in recent years, the quality of the kids coming over has dropped significantly, and the leadership of their school leaders over here has changed and gone downhill as well. we have behavior problems with more and more of the chinese kids. we aren't getting their best students any longer. they're loud and often unruly. their leadership team is rarely around and they aren't managing their kids nearly as well.

honestly, i'm ready for the program to end. i think it's run it's course and that the american students would in some ways be better off as we'd be able to give them more of our time and attention.
