I feel like this should have had its own thread.

28 billion to bailout farmers.  Meanwhile U.S. consumers are also paying 3.4 billion a month in tariffs.

I am not a fan of the farm bill.  I do wonder how America expects to get food from when farmers can't stay afloat.

i also wonder why progressives don't seem to like welfare for farmers

I don't personally have a problem of bailouts for farmers. Farming is important for our country. The issue is a majority of the recent bailouts are due to Trump's own policies, and the hypocrisy of him railing against socialist programs.

I agree but farming isn't one of those

I get that farm bailouts have happened long before Trump, but do you think they are not getting harmed by his trade war, and that $28 billion bailout is not because of his policy?

We actually have a surplus in agriculture. The problem doesn't seem to be in getting food on the table of Americans.

Farming in Wisconsin has definitely been struggling because of the tariffs.  Not sure where you are getting your data from.  Milk, Soy and Grain exports to China have practically dried up.  Trump has had to spend $28bn subsidizing the farms that are losing all their money to his stupid shit.
