I just will never understand why people want to give government more power and control.

I'm going to try to do my best to explain a lib perspective. I don't speak for all libs, but I'm not ashamed to say I am one, and this how I see things. I'm going to preference this by saying I have had my fair share of Sierra Nevada Celebrations tonight, and am on a doctor prescribed muscle relaxers. I reserve the right to make corrections in the morning.

So, I am not about giving government more control of my life, but I'm also not about loosing the reigns on corporations. I agree that sometimes regulations can sometimes hamper business, especially for the small business owners, but I also see the damages corporations can do because they put profit before anything else, and waiting for the free market to correct itself is often times too late for people that have lost lives. Examples, round up weed killer, and Johnson and Johnson.

I'm a capitalist, but also believe in socialist programs. I'm not of the Bernie Sanders world where I think billionaires shouldn't exist. I'm all for people making as much money as they can. But I also feel that if you do live in a environment that where you were able to achieve that, you should at the very least return some of that back for others.

That's an awful lot of envy, guilt and shame. You may need to dial it back a bit.

That's a fine perspective. I don't think anyone would argue with you about the merits of that position.

But....

<insert counterpoint here once I've had 7 Lagunitas>

it's the inherent belief that your gov't cares about you and wants to make life better/easier for you.

What's sad is our elected officials only care about their power and what they must do to maintain it. People absolutely hate Donald Trump and everything to do with him but yet are fine with an administration like his having more control.
