the division sucks and the rest of the teams are considerably worse than they were last year. they'll also improve as players come off the DL.

Actually, we were 23-25 on this date last year.

 

We're only one game worse this year, so at least when in comes to wining %, we are not considerably worse than last year.

Well, we did get within one game of Texas last year and had a big lead over them in a game that would have gotten us tied for first. . but then. . well, I'm sure you know how that turned out.

 

But just because last years team couldn't get over the hump it doesn't mean this one won't.

 

And we don't need to catch the Rangers anyway; we just need to finish with the 5th best record in the AL.

congratulations. At this point I will only [grudgingly] root for Texas when they are playing teams ahead of the Angels in the wild card race. I kinda hope the Rangers pull a 2001 Mariners and set an all time record for regular season wins only to get immediately get bounced out of the playoffs.

Yep, Oakland's 9-0 record against the Astros and our 3-3 record against them is pretty much the difference between us and them in the standings.
