Before tonight he had an .815 OPS with RISP.  After tonight, it’s better.

Trout raised his BA 7 points tonight, not easy to do this late in the season...

Upton now has a .905 OPS with RISP.  Which is better than most everyone on the team not named Trout.  Better than Ohtani, Kole, our little “clutch” guy Fletcher, oh and about .200 points better than Goodwin.

He’s an easy target now but by the time his contract wraps up, I think he will have wound being a very underrated signing. 

He has always been streaky as hell, but he’s always put up solid offensive production, and I think he’ll age well. The defensive miscues and cold snaps and occasional injuries are going to cloud what’s otherwise a solid piece of the puzzle. I actually think Eppler bought him with the later years of his deal in mind. As the team incorporates more youth, the pressure and spotlight will turn away from Upton, which might be a good thing for him. He’ll start to sneak up on pitchers who are focusing on the more dynamic players - Trout, Ohtani, Adell, Fletcher, Rengifo, Thaiss - and add a lot of length to the lineup.
