sweet.  we should trade him to the cards.

I know that won’t happen but I bet they could arrange something in his final season. I think it would be a win-win for both organizations and it certainly wouldn’t be disrespectful to Albert.

Greinke got 6/206M plus an $18M signing bonus. Boras is going to be very aggressive with this client. He’s a top 5 MLB pitcher.

But you missed what Strad said in the post you responded to.   That was several years back.   Contracts have stabilized for ace pitchers, from when Greinke and Price both got over $200 million.   Ace pitching is admittedly very hard to come by, and Cole has pitched like that for two seasons now following mainly decent to solid seasons.   If six seasons is the deal for Cole, I'm guessing around $175 million will get it done.   If for seven seasons, I'm guessing around $205 million will get it done.   The signing bonus for either may be around $10 million.

Glad I missed this disaster, as I was working.

Were the Pirates really 4-24 since the All Star break?!

O's, Tigers, Pirates (combined 2-6 record against them since late July)

Red Sux must be fuming after only taking 2 out of 4 at home from the Halos.

Two solid starting pitchers, come on down in 2020, you are the much needed stabilizers in this rotation.

They discussed Cole on MLB Network and Mark DeRosa says he’ll get 8 / $256M

Signing Cole through his age 37 season guaranteed, in this age of teams being a little more cautious with pitching?

Personally, if someone wants to do that, it is a tough decision for Arte to make on whether to stay in the negotiating.

I completely agree with you on this. Maybe DeRosa works for Boras.
