I think we need to remember where we were when Eppler took over in 2016.

The five drafts before Eppler arrived, from 2011 to 2015, were absolutely terrible. In fact, David Fletcher and CJ Cron are the only two players drafted who made any type of impact. And Cron's major impact was getting traded for Rengifo. What this meant is we were unable to surround Mike Trout with any other young stars through the draft or from the International pool.

Look at what other teams added through the draft or international pool during those five years:

Astros - George Springer, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman, Lance McCullers JR, Kyle Tucker

Dodgers - Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, Walker Buehler, Alex Verdugo, Ross Stripling, Hyun-Ji Ryu

Red Sox - Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers, Jackie Bradley JR.

This is the reality of Eppler's world in 2016. His competition had added all these future great players and he joined a team that had David Fletcher and the dude he would trade for Rengifo. I think he's done a really nice job of cleaning up the mess Reagins and Dipoto made. Now, that being said, this offseason will be his make it or break it. He needs to come through.

There’s absolutely no rebuilding that has gone on. That’s just a nice way of saying the Angels still suck ass after his 4 years.

The Angels farm system is ranked #17. They have ONE prospect in the top 100. Just stop this BS narrative.

So essentially, only top 100 picks count?

They already graduated Canning and Fletcher..both will be part of the team for several years, if they arent traded.

Adell will be up next year. Marsh will either be called up in 2, if not traded for an arm.

The next core is Trout/Ohtani/Adell. And you know this but hey..

Also, I note you completely skipped past every fact i listed.

Facts.

I bet if i said the greys ruined pitching elbows, youd have a different take...

Lol... you so vladdy

Exactly.

Now add that the entire rotation had TJ during that period.

Its funny that some people on here expect, in the span of 4 drafts, an entire team of impact pitchers and players to make it to the majors and replace the dead wood...

It’s not going to be an easy fix. It’s going to require a lot of spending because we don’t have ready made talent in the minors.

If you stuck to making posts like this we’d agree a lot more.

If you care about the farm and the organization’s future he has also failed. The Angels are trash as well is their farm.

And yet you still insist that Eppler is in rebuild mode. Baffling.

@Stradling I'm really coming around to your style...defend the organization at all costs! its admirable!

Its impressive! Not warranted but impressive! I'm not even being sarcastic or anything.

You're like a mama grizzly bear and someone is trying to F with your cubs.

But not everyone is enamored with Billy E or the state of the franchise as u are..its ok man!

BTW we share the same BDAY...March 16 and think we we were born on the same day 1974??

Go halos man!!

The farm system was ranked 30th when he took over and would have been ranked 35th if there were five other teams. He's moved the farm system up 13 places in four years while still feeding the big league team.

Yes, Eppler's starting pitching signings have been a bust. However, he's done good stuff with the farm system at the same time every other team (except the Mariners) has been trying to improve theirs. Has any other team's farm system improved even ten spots in the last four years?

The average total farm rebuild does supposedly take at least 5 years.

They have graduated quite a few already, and by the 6th year (2021), others will either be ready or not far off.

Is Eppler's  job in jeopardy with all the bad free agent signings?

No, Angels GM Billy Eppler is definitely safe.

Will I get an extension? I have not put a playoff team on the field the whole time I've been in Anaheim. How much longer do I get? Why am I inept at putting together a starting rotation?

Eppler has made mistakes, specifically with FA signings, but I think the good outweighs the bad. He does need to do something about the rotation, though, and I think this offseason will be crucial in that regard.
