When every team in contention's back up catcher is better than he is and no team out of it is even willing to give up the cash....     Seriously, check out the catchers on contenders, it's nutty how many good hitting catchers there are right now.

What sort of teams would need him?   Contenders?  Outside of Oakland there really aren't any that really need a C, even a back up catcher and in Oakland's case they have Murphy in AAA.

MLB Network had Brad Ausmus on earlier today. He talked about how it was tough to tell a player that he had been DFA'd, especially one who was as well liked in the clubhouse as Lucroy was. He also talked about the emotional time that the team has had since the death of Tyler Skaggs.

When they finished the interview, the hosts brought up something that I hadn't considered during the tough spell that the Angels have had over the past week. This team may be emotionally spent, with everything that they have gone through. Not saying that it will stay that way for the rest of the season, but it has been a rough year for the players.

hard as it is to believe, not every player wants to come to LA.

and as IP mentioned a few pages back, there was a lot of uncertainty about trout's future. I don't imagine too many free agents of quality would have been interested in coming here only to see the best player leave shortly.

The Angels organization is a complete sh*t show from top to bottom.  Clueless and arrogant owner, equally clueless GM and a manager that literally no one else wanted or even had minimal interest in.  What a travesty that Trout is stuck in this mess.  Arte could have saved a bunch of money picking up a coach from a High School baseball coach job fair and still had an unimpressive .500 record at this point.   Wow, what a continuing disappointment and waste of talent/payroll...

Im not saying this to defend eppler. Obviously this past winter was a dud. (Though its understandable for a lot of reasons).

But this many pages for a Luctoy DFA? Lol...

He wasnt very good... and he wasnt very expensive. And i dont remember too many fans he had on here.

I’m still patiently waiting for Eppler to sign a contract extension. We all know he’ll be around next season as the Angels GM. I just a little baffled as to why there hasn’t been any talk of a extension this late into the season.
