first time in vegas next week

Recommended Posts

My dad was a big Vegas fan back in the day.

10 years ago was the last time I spent time with him in Vegas.  I could write a book about that trip, and all the inappropriate things he did.

I thought I said goodbye to him Saturday night.  We get up to leave Sunday morning, leaving the Harrah's parking lot to drive home, and he and my mom are smoking their cigs.

He says to wait for him to finish smoking, and he'll follow us out.  I say, 'dad, you've been to vegas a million times.  Take a right on Flamingo, and take the 15 south'.

Six hours later, I am home working in the yard, and i receive two texts:

"I got lost on the way home, asshole"  and

"Your brother would have waited"

I like ghetto vegas the best still. Are all these bullshit fees assessed by the 4 Queens or Main Street Station?

i've heard several times that it's far more expensive to stay at one of the casinos. this might be my captain obvious moment of the day, but i'd be just as happy to stay in a holiday inn express or something like that. i don't need to be on the strip. i'd just uber it.

The only appropriate response is, That's because my brother likes you.

I expected to find compromising pictures and wild stories that actually didn't stay in Vegas and all I found instead was talk about resort fees.

What a let down.

I have a few, nothing too crazy except for the hooker story that probably isn’t appropriate here but funny.

When I played poker full time and was engulfed in it I used to visit a poker educational site called 2+2. For the most part it’s a bunch of us nerds analyzing hands and game theory. But they have a miscellaneous section about Vegas stories and some of the shit in there was beyond wild with drunken cocaine filled nights including escorts and degen gambling stories. Someone should take a few of the gems there and make some kind of movie that blows The Hangover away.

when i was pricing things back in july, i though the same.  then i saw that we could stay at a budget resort like excalibur for the same price as a holiday inn type place combined with ubering back and forth to the strip.

for our dates, anyway.

We did Vegas in June for my brothers bachelor party. We made him dress like this for the entire first day and night.

No joke, I literally almost texted you a picture the other day of some dude rocking the most vibrant white old white guy degenerate New Balances. The place I was in was too dark and the pic wouldn’t have done it justice.

This pic makes me want to grab some more velcro sneakers and go to Del Mar.

Doesn't the Rio have a special where you can go to every buffet at the casino in a 24 hour period for one price?

i think a lot of properties have that.  aria does for sure.

i don't do buffets, and am looking for suggestions for a good place on the strip to go for xmas dinner.  price doesn't really matter, but i do eat plant based. not sure if i'm going with anybody yet.

i assume it's a good idea to make reservations?  or is it not very busy during xmas?

Christmas day, all the nice restaurants are packed and turning people away.  So yes, absolutely make reservations.

As for a recommendations, sorry, only know carnivore heavy places.  Only one that I think might have good plant based is Giada's at the Comwell.  I had some pea pasta dish that was really good, and I don't think it had any meat in it.

Surely there is a good Chinese Restaurant in town.  You may need to order the Peking Duck ahead of time.

thanks. it's a little hard because the nicer places don't want to do substitutions, which i totally understand.  i might end up just ubering up to wynn or something.

I heard about this place but not being a vegetarian I passed on it, however it is different. The concept is you are eating in the dark so your sense of smell and taste are heightened, you do not have the visual to give you clues. Reservation only and you probably should go with a partner.
