Angels DFA Matt Harvey finally

The season with the Reds obviously was more illusion than substance. Eppler was gambling that Harvey had rebounded and would continue to at least give him one credible season. 

But it got Harvey a nice big sum of money for about a dozen appearances. 

So many of these rehab pitchers are real risks. But given Angel needs the gambles were out of desperation.

The three disaster signings look terrible in retrospect, but no long term complications at least.

I was horrifically awfully wrong in thinking he could be somewhere between what he did in CIN last year and what Richards gave us last year. The only thing positive that can be said is that at least Eppler didn’t let him go out and suck in too many games. 

Harvey (7.09 ERA, 1.542) is right there with Jeff Weaver (6.29 ERA, 1.529 WHIP, 88.2 IP) and Blanton (6.04 ERA,  1.613 WHIP, 132.2 IP!!) in sucky veteran pickups in Angel recent history. But at least he only got a 59.2 inning rope.

Harvey failed here because of things like pitch location. that's on him, not the pitching coach.

That's what mechanics effect, as he said. That is on the pitching coach.

sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. don't think any GM is even close to 100% on signing. I would not rule out one-year, fingers crossed for a bounce back, type of contract, just maybe not 11 million
