Too little, too late?

This season is starting to feel like last season, but I don't think they'll win as many games as last season. If the Angels start playing well against some of the good teams, I might change my mind.

The 1951 Giants were 13 games back on August 11, then went 47-7 to set up that classic three-game playoff with the Dodgers.

 

Anything can happen in baseball.

I think I will watch the entire season and see what comes of it.

 

Exactly what I will do. I'm going into the rest of the season expecting nothing spectacular, and I would gladly be proven wrong if it turns out otherwise.

Also, I won't get my hopes up until we are .500. Then if that happens soon then we will have a chance to win around 88-90 games.

Getting to .500 is a key landmark, IMO, as far in the hole as we were. The way the season started, I had visions of being 20 games out by the All Star break. When the Angels reach .500 will have a large bearing on how the rest of the season unfolds. The later it occurs, the less chance that we will finish higher than third in the division (and perhaps even lower).

If we are .500 in early June then there will be over 90 games (could be close to 100) left to get back into wild card contention. If we go 60-40 in the last 100 games, which would have been crazy to think about two weeks ago, we will be right around 90 wins and probably in a wild card spot.
