Walk brings out Trout with 1 out, runners 1st and 3rd

Strikeout or popup brings out Trout with 2 out, runner still at third

He could have popped out and turned it into a DP as well.

There is no way you can justify risking taking the bat out of your best hitter in that situation.

Especially when your closer is struggling and you need more than one run to win the game.
