Ohtani remains out.  This, despite having the day off yesterday.  I’ll never understand why the team looks for reasons to keep its 2nd best hitter out of the line up.  

I hate this so much.

I was going to make a similar comment... Yesterday Ausmus said it was Ohtani's "scheduled day off."  Well, it's Thursday.  This is the continuing issue I have with the guy.  I don't believe a word he says.  Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little.. but just a little.

Ausmus is probably just mad because he couldn't go surfing today and decided to take it out on the fans by keeping Ohtani out of the lineup.

It doesn’t make sense.  He’s 24 years old.  He already has barely played this season.  He’s a DH FFS.  He doesn’t need “days off”.  I can accept the days when they want Trout to DH.  But there’s no circumstance that exists otherwise that Ohtani shouldn’t be in the line up.  It’s fu*cking stupid.

I'm not sure they can change the lineup from yesterday's game.  It was probably already submitted.

I am sure they can change the line up.  Also it was probably a scheduled day off for Ohtani, to give him the two days off, since today was going to be a day off.

Left hander Martin Perez with a 2.89 era on the mound for the Twins. On first glance Ohtani is hitting .289 versus lefties this season but he has no extra base hits so his slugging percentage is .289. 

Mike Trout is the DH rather than put him out there on a damp field. I'm ok with this decision, Ohtani can pinch hit late in the game if needed.

TBH this is more concerning. I can't really think of a good reason why they would want to give Ohtani two days off, unless there is a health reason - either they are nervous about his elbow, or nervous about the finger that got hit the other day. Either way...makes me nervous.

It's pretty miserable here atm. The last week or two it's been rain and fog in the morning then clears up by 1.
