The fact that Santana always has a good season after a bad one had me preferring to keep him for 2013, but not Haren. 

And so far, that would have been a good move, because the luxury tax would still be avoided because Blanton would not have been signed in all likelihood. 

 

Granted, there was no way I would re-sign him.  

Take advantage of him likely having a good season?   Yes

Re-sign him and his mostly every other season act?   No
