Bethpage is long and difficult, and it's got a lot of moisture on it right now. Don't know how much it's going to dry out this week.

We'll see that "Bethpage is a difficult course" sign about a gazillion times this week. It's already on overkill on twitter.

A lot of big names are stumbling out of the gate this morning.

Tiger starts by doubling his first hole.

Tiger six shots back now after nine holes. Missing fairways and greens.

and just like that, Tiger goes -4 in his last 4 holes to move into a tie for 6th at -1

and just like that, Tiger bogeys the next hole. 

Koepka is a machine.

X-man shot an even par 70, that's not bad as only 16 golfers are under par so far.

Tiger's on the 8th hole and hasn't hit a fairway yet. He's pulling it left.

Koepka, meanwhile, is on cruise control.

He will be tough (impossible?) to catch.

no other golfer is making even the slightest run at him so far. 2nd place is at -6.

Koepke was there after 14 holes of Round 1

Lol, Koepka wasn't happy with his game after yesterday's round and went straight to the range to work on some things.

We should all be so unhappy.

This is boring. Maybe Koepke will dislocate his shoulder and give the other players a slight chance of catching him.

Koepke's lead goes from 7 shots to 5 after the 1st hole

Well, he hung on but made it far more interesting than it needed to be.

Lots of hollering about if Koepka is as good as Tiger was. Koepka is 29 and has won 4 majors and 6 tournaments total. 

By comparison, when Tiger was 29 he’d won 10 majors and 46 tournaments.

And thus ended the lesson.

Koepka really steps up in Majors, it is pretty crazy, but comparing him to Tiger is seriously LOL worthy.

BTW, what a boring tournament.  Narrow fairways and deep rough made for nothing but defensive golf, there was almost no shot making for the entire four days.
