AW's golf scores

Recommended Posts

The only regular round I play is my Tuesday Rec-Park 9.  Shot an amazing -1 last year, but usually shooting in the +5-10 range (+4 this week).

We used to play DLB or Casta Del Sol weekly, and I scored my first ever birdies at DLB (+2 on the front; always implode on the back for a 78-80 something).  We used to play Costa Mesa a lot too when I first started playing.

I thought Shorecliffs was too tight also.  Played it twice, probly won't be back.  We preferred San Juan Hills.  I haven't played Skylinks since they re-furbished it, and I still haven't played Eldorado Park either.

I'm a decent player, but I'd usually rather have fun and drink some beers/smoke cigars than get all frustrated and angry.  My ex-wife had one good piece of advice when we were married.... "You can go play golf, just don't come home in a bad mood from a crappy round."  My motto is, "If I was any good, they'd be paying me to play this course."

I play better buzzed/borderline drunk. The first four holes are usually pretty bad, then I hit my stride by the third beer.

Had some amazing drives last time out when I was pissy haha.....Finished with four straight pars and barely missed a birdie putt.

Designated drivers are the bees knees

For county courses I like ranching park in west LA. They used to hold the old Los Angeles open there, as well as a senior event. Fun corse, but you need to have a county card to get on.

For pure awesome scenery and a wonderfully kept secret ourselves, try rancho verde in Palos verdes. Fantastic, one ofthe most enjoyable rounds of golf you'll experience.

I drove by River View today. Oh man, what an awful, awful place to golf. I couldn't imagine walking that course. I'd recommend Willowick over River View any day.

My spread over my last 5 rounds is pretty brutal:

89, 91, 100, 117, 95

I picked up the shanks when I shot a 100 playing with Bruce. They got worse my next outing. Way worse. Righted it a bit my last round. Damndest thing... I'm hitting my driver, 3-wood , hybrid and 4 iron very well right now, but I'm having a bitch of a time squaring the club face with any other iron. I literally have to play for a hook to keep from slicing it. I'm in the middle of a hiatus. Need to recharge the batteries a bit.

I have, on expert authority, a tip for your iron play.

Hit the ball on the up swing.

Beers and stogies on the golf course are great.  I will rock that on the weekends (usually ends up with my front 9 being much better than my back 9).  In the mornings during the week I like to play 9 and see how my game is doing, nice to be done by 8 so making it to work isn't too tough.
