I think so. seems he has a high swing and miss rate this spring. Saw a short video this morning showing his 9 strikeouts yesterday. really threw some nasty pitches.

the good news is that Pena can dominate on any given day.  He's gonna have spells where he loses command which will lead to some cookies and he'll have an early exit.  

In his last 8 starts he averaged 6.1ip with a 3.49 era and 45k in 49ip.  

He actually only had 2 bad starts.  13 of his 40 er as a starter occurred in those starts.  

I think it gives the team a much better chance to win if a guy can give you a sub 3 era in 90% of his starts and blows up in 10% vs. a guy that is more consistent to a low 4s era nearly every time out.

Bridwell was always a starter, and Ramirez went down with TJ. Pena has been long relief, and a starter in the minors but I bet he starts 20 for the Angels this year. They’ll have 6 in the rotation sometimes.
