i think that depends on the quality of the pitching.   A great bullpen can save an average starting staff.  Great starters can make the bullpens job easy.  Theres a lot of ways to skin that cat. 
Overall to me ive never been a fan of the so-called ace, its too many eggs in the proverbial basket and they cost to much and contribute nothing the other 4 out of 5 days.   
Give me a staff of good, but not necessarily great, starters, with a quality pen and a solid lineup and ill take my chances.

I will say that Billy has been granted approval to improve the top end of the rotation planning for a 1a & 1b with Ohtani taking one of those spots in 2020. Starting either this trade deadline through a similar Simba trade. This trade may not help us if it were to happen depending on where we are in the standings this trade deadline.

Pitcher with some club control left that would be interested in a long term deal or just remaining with us for many years due to geographic location. Probably, the same player we were close to acquiring last trade deadline. There is some fondness from a far for both sides.

And, or, a Top End Free Agent rotation piece this upcoming winter/2020 season. As AP#5's deal will end in 2021. Who's contract will eventually replace the value of the ending AP#5 deal in 2021.

Also, dont get too attached to the glut of young of'ers not named Adell, Hunter JR *extremly high on him* and Marsh and the young arms not named Canning and Sandavol.

The bullpen pieces will remain fluid. Other than maintaining a proven closer or until Buttery is confident to slide into the role.

While its good news that we arwnt trading adell, canning, etc, how much can we hope to gain in trade with the ones not named them?

Im not advocating we do trade any of those guys. Just that i wouldnt expect a ton in trade with the other names.
