THE GAMES: The Angels lost a pair of games on Sunday, falling 14-2 against the Cincinnati Reds at Tempe Diablo Stadium and 13-9 to the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch in Glendale.

RHP Ty Buttrey was charged with two runs while getting just one out. He gave up two hits and walked two. … In Glendale, RHP Luis Madero pitched two scoreless innings. Madero was a surprise addition to the Angels’ 40-man roster after he showed improved velocity last season at Class-A.

HITTING REPORT: Mike Trout, Andrelton Simmons and Albert Pujols made their spring debuts. Trout and Simmons each went hitless in two at-bats. Pujols had two singles, including an infield single in the first inning when Reds shortstop José Peraza dove for a ball in the hole and couldn’t get up quickly enough to throw out Pujols. Pujols is coming back from two surgeries last year. “Albert looked good,” Manager Brad Ausmus said. “His work has been good the last few days, in the cage and in batting practice.” … Luis Rengifo has walked in each of his two plate appearances this spring. Last season Rengifo had a .399 on-base percentage in the minors. … In Glendale, Kole Calhoun played for the first time this spring, with a single and a walk in his two trips to the plate. … Matt Thaiss drove in three runs for the second straight game.

DEFENSE REPORT: In Tempe, second baseman Rengifo booted a ground ball but then the baserunner ran into him and was called out. Rengifo also helped to turn two double plays. … In Glendale, pitcher Jesus Castillo dropped a ball when covering first. … Shortstop Roberto Baldoquin made a nice catch of a pop-up running back toward the outfield.
