Trevor Gott reunion?

Nationals just announced they designated former Angel Trevor Gott. For those who don't remember, Gott was traded to the Nationals for Escobar a few seasons ago. He was an absolute stud for us in the pen but hasn't been the same since. He'll still be a bargain in the checkbooks, so maybe the Angels would put up a claim and see if him coming home will benefit him? He's only 26 years old.

Thoughts?

No way , he has done nothing since he was traded.

So there’s no way around it other than the 40-man?

If he clears waivers, the Nats can probably just outright him and keep him in the minors and he won't have any right to refuse the assignment because this is the first time he's been DFA'd.

If a guy has been DFA'd before, then he can refuse an outright and become a free agent. Then you can sign him to a minor league deal.
