Lucroy Ranked on MLB Network's "Top 10 Last 10"

Jonathan Lucroy was featured on a new segment of MLB Network’s Top 10 Right Now! series this past Saturday called “Top 10 Last 10.” In conjunction with MLB Network’s 10^th anniversary, each Top 10 Right Now! episode will include Brian Kenny and Christopher “Mad Dog” Russo as they discuss and debate the best players at each position over the last decade.

Lucroy was ranked sixth on Kenny’s catchers list, finishing one spot ahead of Salvador Pérez and one spot behind Russell Martin, and ninth on Russo’s ranking, finishing one spot ahead of Miguel Montero and one spot behind Matt Wieters. Kenny’s and Russo’s rankings for the “Top 10 Last 10” catchers are listed below and available here.

So how many of our other guys get on this list? Trout and possibly Simmons. Maybe Upton if they separate outfielders by specific position.That wouldn't be bad though, 4 guys on the roster.

Kenny's list must have little to do with actual catching skills and more to do with hitting. Come on, man, Gary Sanchez??? Actually, Sanchez didnt hit last year, either.

Albert Pujols is one of the greatest right handed hitters of all time....

That doesn't help me sleep better at night.

When I first saw this thread - "last ten", I thought it meant Lucroy was in the bottom 10 of catchers...

Very weird. Sanchez has caught 206 games total, in his short career since 2016.

Yet, he's in this guy's top 10 of the last 10 years? OK.................

Gary Sanchez is horrific behind the plate.  I have no idea how he made such a list.

I wasn't sure about Albert in the last ten years. I know the last 4 or so have been iffy so I didn't know if he would make it. There are a lot of good first basemen.

He had about 23 war between 2009 and 2012. That has to be top ten in the past 10 years.

Has there ever been such a fall off, as with Pujols?    Cabrera is likely to join him, though.

Depends how old you think he is. I personally believe he is 41-42. If that’s the case, he fell off in his late thirties due to lower body injuries. Wouldn’t be too surprising a fall if I am correct.

2012-2018 offensive WAR = 13.3 

If he is 2 years older than listed, then his 2005-2011 seasons came at ages 27-33 and 2012-2018 seasons came at ages 34-40.

At this point I hope that Albert is actually older than his stated age.  All the more likely he'll retire sooner.
