Am I the only one that’s kind of relieved that Richards is gone ?

how many in the last 15-20 years? how many of those were coming off TJ surgery?

after checking his stats, i say there's no way in hell he does it. he's only won more than 7 games twice. he's only started 18+ games twice, too.

Lou, I totally agree with you.  That was kind of my point: most of the people who've done it did so under very different circumstances.  I did think it was funny to find that Tommy John himself was on the list, though!

stuff like a #1.  mentality like a #5.  Thought he was really going to take off after 2014 but then the torn quad hosed him.   Couldn't quite turn the corner and then the arm trouble.  Basically lost like 2.5 of the last 3 seasons and won't pitch at all in 2019.

Don't blame his for putting some extra dough in his pocket.  Although I'll admit having visions of Ohtani, Cole, Richards, Skaggs, Heaney and Barria in the 2020 rotation but some of that vision included time on the DL.

I'll only be relieved when the Angels can put together a season where their expected rotation starts more than half the games.

I was always a fan and defender, but I hope he fails after hearing that he turned down a close offer from the Angels. Dude owes his life to this team.

link? i don't recall this being mentioned

owes his life to this team? that's absolutely crazy. he owed the team his service for the term of his contract.

I am not "relieved that Richatds is gone."

I was never annoyed at Richards personally and he was talented with upside so I can't imagine how I could be "relieved that he is gone."

My frustration was probably more with the Angels where it SEEMED that they were constantly banking on Richards to suddenly be a #1 starter despite his obvious history of not staying healthy.

Very quickly I viewed the rotation as desperately needing somebody else to be "the guy" instead of Richards and then you can both survive Richards problems and benefit if he got it together.

The only thing I am relieved of is the annoying assumption that if the Angels have Richards they don't have an obvious vacancy at the front of the rotation.

The Angels, in my opinion, still have a vacancy at the top of the rotation but at least I no longer have to tolerate the fantasy that Richards is going to take care of that problem.
