NILE GARDINER: Biden wrong to evict Winston Churchill bust from Oval Office — signals weakening of US-UK ties

In his inaugural address, President Biden pledged to "repair alliances." Yet one of his first moves in power was to remove a bust of the late British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill from the Oval Office, as President Barack Obama did in January 2009. This was a slap in the face for Great Britain on Day One of Biden's presidency, and sends the wrong signal to America’s closest friend and ally.

The Churchill bust is a sensitive issue for U.S.-British relations. The bronze bust, created by sculptor Jacob Epstein, was originally a loaned gift to President George W. Bush from British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The bust is a symbol of the British people standing shoulder to shoulder with their American brothers and sisters following the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history. Another bust of Churchill, which has been on the second floor of the White House since the 1960s, is outside the Treaty Room.

I say that is bloody bollocks of Biden and he is being a wanker.  First rate job by FOX News telling him to bugger-off.  Cheers Redondo.

At least we know where finally cons on this board draw the line and it's with breaking personal mask mandates.

Inciting a riot on the Capitol to overturn an election? No big deal. Calling the Georgia SOS to have him just "recalculate votes?" Like a parking ticket.

But Trump...!

classic.

You guys should try to be less sensitive, this is just the beginning.

So we are 4 days into the Biden presidency and the major complaints are the following:

  • He was caught not wearing a mask outside
  • He boxed up a bust of Winston Churchill and put it in the garage
  • His wife made cookies for national guard troops

You forgot he killed tens of thousands of jobs by shutting down Keystone.

But DON'T mention any of you know who's transgressions, because then you get the ol' tride and true "But _____!" ownage.

BTW the Keystone thing was an awful decision by Biden. One of many more to come.

I believe so too and this whole idea of green energy providing jobs better come to fruition otherwise it’s going to hurt.

I will say though both situations are risky though. If that pipeline had leaked(it had once already if I remember correctly), it would have hurt a lot as well.
