Goldy might just be the best 1B in the game now though. He certainly was in 2018.

that two month stretch where he lost it to start the season would concern me.  Especially when guys move to the wrong side of 30.  Maybe it's anecdotal, but I fee like we've seen that a few times with guys as a harbinger of their descent.

So it appears that there is really no questiom that Greinke is available.

He is just a little nerve racking at his age.

At his age, it would be a gamble but you could probably get him cheaper than anybody with comparable talent, if you pick up all or most of his deal....

Listening to Mike Ferrin on mlb network radio this morning - he doesn't think Greinke will be traded.  Ferrin does their radio play by play...

So yesterday after the Corbin deal, I was thinking the free agent class is getting overpaid.  Best to avoid that and just explore the trade market.  And now that I see the cost for one season of Paul Goldschmidt, I'm thinking the trade market is also now too expensive.

Seriously, just keep developing as many prospects as possible.  That's the only way a team can become competitive and limit their spending.  Thankfully we have Stoneman and Eppler.  They'll hold onto them.

It's extremely similar to the package that we got Greinke for in the summer. of 2012 or whenever it was.

Oh.......you're right it is.  And that was for two months of Greinke.  It sure would be nice if the money owed in a potential Grienke deal could be in the 60 million range. Maybe the D-Backs take Calhoun, eat 25 million of it and actually get something like Rengifo, Soriano and Pena in return.
