OC Register: Angels fill out coaching staff under new manager Brad Ausmus

Recommended Posts

Josh Paul, Paul Sorrento and Andrew Bailey will return to the Angels big league coaching staff in 2019, while José Molina and Mike Gallego will move up from player development roles, as the club announced manager Brad Ausmus’ entire staff on Monday.

They are joined by pitching coach Doug White, hitting coach Jeremy Reed and assistant hitting coach Shawn Wooten, whose hirings had been confirmed previously.

The other member of the staff will be first base coach/outfield instructor Jesus Feliciano, who comes to the Angels after working in the Chicago Cubs system. This will be his first job on a major league staff.

Feliciano and White are the only two coaches who were not part of the Angels’ organization last year.

Paul returns for his second season as the bench coach. Sorrento, who had been the assistant hitting coach, is now the hitting instructor. Bailey moves from replay coordinator to bullpen coach.

Gallego, who had been the Angels director of player development, will be the third base coach. He had previously filled that job with the Oakland A’s.

Molina, a former Angels catcher, will be the catching coach, after serving as a roving catching instructor in the minors.
