Chisenhall needed his own thread? I’ve seen it all

Let me ask you this question Ocho. If you had a choice between these four options which would you take?

1) Player W (wRC+ of 113 with a -10 FanGraphs DEF score in a corner OF position) who will cost you $2.75M on a one-year deal with performance risers attached that could bring the total contract up to about $5.75M OR

2) Player X (wRC+ of 113 with a -8.7 FanGraphs DEF score in a corner OF position) who will probably cost you Jo Adell, Griffin Canning, and 1-2 other prospects in trade and has four years of control?

3) Player Y (wRC+ of 112 with a -13.5 FanGraphs DEF score across multiple positions) who will probably cost you $35M-45M on a four year deal?

4) Player Z (wRC+ of 116 with a -24.5 FanGraphs DEF score across multiple OF positions) who will probably cost you $45M-55M on a three year deal?

All of these players numbers are based on the last three years of performance so sample size is not a real issue here.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Player X, Lonnie Chisenhall is a great value buy on a short term contract that will not break any teams farm system and that his numbers are favorable in comparison to the other three examples.

Player X, Andrew Benintendi, has performed exactly the same as Chisenhall offensively over the last three years with a minimum of 700 plate appearances and would break our farm system to acquire. A good player for sure but the price we would have to pay is staggering and there is little indication that Benintendi is markedly better than Lonnie or even Adell for that matter.

Player Y, Marwin Gonzalez, will almost certainly get his own thread because so many people here clamor for his signing. He is worse offensively than Lonnie but can play more defensive positions, making them pretty equivalent players.

Player Z, Andrew McCutchen, will definitely get his own thread simply based on his brand name and also the clamor for his signing by various members of the board. He is better than Chisenhall offensively but much worse defensively. He will make about $12M more than Lonnie in 2019.

So yeah Lonnie Chisenhall gets his own thread.
