The Angels on Wednesday were completing a deal for left-hander Dillon Peters from the Miami Marlins, according to a source.

The Angels will be sending minor-league right-hander Tyler Stevens to the Marlins in the trade.

Peters has been a starting pitcher, and he can be optioned, so he will likely become part of the Angels’ rotation depth.

Peters will be added to the Angels’ 40-man roster, meaning the Angels will have to make another move to clear space.

Peters, 26, had been designated for assignment by the Marlins on Tuesday. He has a 6.10 ERA over 13 games, including 11 starts in the past two seasons.

Peters was the Marlins’ 10th-round pick in 2014. In 67 career minor-league games, all starts, he has a 3.37 ERA.

Stephens, 22, was the Angels’ 18th-round pick in the 2017 draft. He has an ERA of 5.00 in 102 2/3 innings in the minors. He pitched at three levels of the system in 2018, reaching Triple-A.
