Weren't they high on Stevens as a relief pitcher?    If so, that was quick and kind of perplexing.

And Peters is yet another LHP starter?  They already have Skaggs, Heaney, Suarez, and Sandoval. 

Unless they are pretty sure a trade is soon coming, that involves trading a LHP starter?

I liked what I saw from Peters in a couple starts last season.

Peters is gonna go to the pen I imagine. He has two options remaining still, so he and Jerez are probably going to be right on the heels of Alvarez, whose likelihood of being dealt just ticked another step further.

Remember, Alvarez was a SP when the Angels acquired him, and they didn’t give him the slightest bit of chance to stick there. Also insurance if Lillis-White gets plucked in the Rule 5.

Or, if they do keep him in the rotation, it gives them a little more LH SP depth if they have to deal Suarez, Sandoval, or even Skaggs.

He did find it in the minors (career: just over 2 BBs/9 innings), and only got hit hard at the AAA level.    But yes, his control was very iffy with the Fish, when pitching for them.

I think they’re at 39, so not necessarily. Peters will be 40.

I guess Roster Resource is missing something - they’re usually pretty accurate. 

Not too hard to just DFA someone like Almonte, Blash, Meyer, Noe, Castillo, or Farrell at this time though.

So a minor leaguer for a minor leaguer, ok.   I’ll assume they are working on more.   I doubt intelligent fans from other teams are up in arms about their team making these types of trades.

There are a few people that we wouldn’t miss.   Guys like Noe or Blash or Cowart.   I was a fan of Cowart but he’s super repetitive with Fletcher and Cozart.

Who did they drop yesterday that was concerning? The only guys we dropped yesterday were basically Dillon Peters but without options and Yunel Escobar 2.0

I have a sinking feeling Cowart will be on the 25-man all year next year, taking Marte’s spot.

He had solid minor league numbers as a starter through 2017 but just seemed to struggle at the MLB...looks like decent starter depth.
