Voting machines are breaking down in Newark and Detroit as well, heavily Democratic cities.

The NJ senate race is very close. Mendendez has been there basically forever. 

In Michigan Sen. Stabenow's lead has also dropped.

Good turnout this morning at my polling place. I actually had to wait in line. People braved the searing heat in Bixby Knolls to do their civic duty.

My wife sent in her application for an absentee ballot on October 20 (the deadline was October 31). She still has not received a ballot.

I signed up months before the next election and got a confirmation in the mail.  In your wife's case or anyone else who applies that close to the election there's always the risk it doesn't get processed as they're already sending out voter guides and then ballots around that time or at least they are here.  At the very least she should be able to go to her local polling place to vote this election.

She sent it in as soon as they started accepting applications for ballots.

Weird, but she should have gone to the courthouse a few weeks ago.  Regardless, she can still vote at her polling place.
