Voting machines are breaking down in Newark and Detroit as well, heavily Democratic cities.

The NJ senate race is very close. Mendendez has been there basically forever.

In Michigan Sen. Stabenow's lead has also dropped.

The Georgia one is Republican

I like tacos.  I like Latina women who aren't cholas.

I fell into the pool and swam in my jeans once.

I support drinking on Sundays.

Viva votar!

The "swimming in jeans" joke was clever the first time, but now it's getting tired. Time for something fresh. Actually, I think your "memorial stickers on outdated SUVs" observation had some potential.

She got an uber to drop her off about 90 minutes ago and still isn't inside the building.

That doesn't sound like showing up at 7am when the voting booths open. It looks more like lunch break taking in the time difference.

Almost every state allows absentee voting while 20 of them require an excuse and I have no idea what qualifies as an excuse.  Georgia allows absentee voting without an excuse so your co-worker could always vote by mail to avoid parking issues, long lines and so on.  If she wants to vote in person then like damn near everything else the government has a hand in she will have to deal with the gridlock.

My wife sent in her application for an absentee ballot on October 20 (the deadline was October 31). She still has not received a ballot.

I signed up months before the next election and got a confirmation in the mail.  In your wife's case or anyone else who applies that close to the election there's always the risk it doesn't get processed as they're already sending out voter guides and then ballots around that time or at least they are here.  At the very least she should be able to go to her local polling place to vote this election.

She sent it in as soon as they started accepting applications for ballots.
