Does it bother anyone else that money flows into state elections from other states?  I was reading an article about the Cruz/O'rourke race and O'rourke brought in a ridiculous amount of money and it appears a lot of it came from CA and NY.  I know both sides do it and it's nothing new but there's something fundamentally wrong with that.  State and local elections really should be just that and not a power grab at the national level for either side to try and exert their control over the entire country.

I think in state elections should not be supported by outside money but any post that effects the country nationally I don't have a problem with it.  So governor and all state officials should be in state money only but U.S. senate and house I don't have a problem with outside money.

I'd be in favor of this but even for senate races it just seems wrong that money from outside states is used to influence voters.  On one hand that money can benefit smaller candidates who are fighting an uphill battle in states that are predominantly R or D but those states are R or D because that's what the majority of voters want.  Yesterday I saw some of the various polls that said D's were ahead in general votes but as anyone knows that doesn't matter in elections like this or even the presidential election with the electoral college.

My co-worker that lives outside of Atlanta has not been able to vote yet because every time she goes to the polling place there is no parking anywhere around and lines are down the street.

How is it that we as a country do not have easy access to voting for everyone?  That is truly tragic.  We spend so much on our military to "defend our freedom", which you have to wonder if that is even true if huge portions of people struggle to be able to vote, and yet we can't spend enough to have enough polling places that voting takes mere minutes instead of hours.

Almost every state allows absentee voting while 20 of them require an excuse and I have no idea what qualifies as an excuse.  Georgia allows absentee voting without an excuse so your co-worker could always vote by mail to avoid parking issues, long lines and so on.  If she wants to vote in person then like damn near everything else the government has a hand in she will have to deal with the gridlock.

Today's also the start of college basketball season. I know what I'll be paying attention to.

Michigan State vs Kansas and Duke vs Kentucky.

Great way to start the season.
