9. CC Sabathia signs with the Angels
The general presumption/assumption prior to the Winter Meetings in Las Vegas in 2008 was that Sabathia wanted to play on the West Coast, and the Angels were serious suitors. As tends to be the case, the Yankees crashed that party, and the relationship between CC and the Yanks was fruitful enough that the two sides maintained it with a one-year, $10 million deal last offseason.

But with the Yankees in need of greater upside in their rotation, the two sides could finally be parting ways. Sabathia still wants to pitch, and he's remade himself as a crafty innings-eater who could help stabilize the Halos at a modest price. So maybe CC to the Angels at the Meetings in Vegas will happen a decade later than initially expected (though a return to his Oakland roots feels like a viable possibility, too.)

Eppler was in talks with CC's people last season and were close to prying him away. But, he went back for a run after they acquired Stanton.... We were his 1st choice if he decided to change teams.

Maybe, this year? Maybe not.

I’d love to have Sabathia in the rotation next year - so long as one other SP is brought in as well.

He’s awfully durable and still a solid pitcher, but with his age and weight he’ll be at risk at missing starts - which is okay, if we have guys like Pena, Canning, Suarez, and Sandoval ready to step in, and not already penciled in for other roles.

Machado to Yanks, yeah they are realllly going out on a limb there, lol 
I hope the Braves and Realmuto isnt true, thats still my #1 choice, but it makes sense and they have better prospects so, meh.

CC was still a pretty good pitcher this season. With that being said. I hope we don't sign him. Watching him pitch this year, I've got that gut feeling that it's over. He will sign with a team for sure, but I believe this will be the year he "loses it."

In actuality, that might not be a bad thing. As much as we need durability, we do have SP in AAA who can step in - provided everyone else is healthy. 
It'll keep his cost down, compared to the Keuchel, Eovaldi, and Corbin tier.

I'd be happy with this.  Id still like add Holland and Sanchez if possible.

The only way I'm good with Sabathia is if the other pitcher brought in pitches toward the top of a rotation.  CC is an improvement over our 5th tsarters last year, but it doesn't change the fact that this team needs upside.

No to Sabathia ... I don’t believe the Angels will sign him. Too many younger options this off season.
