One year contracts make a lot of sense for bottom feeders ... good call

The Braves have made three FA signings -- all of them 1 year deals.
The Red Sox have made five FA signings, 3 of them minor league deals, and a 1 year deal.
The Yankees have made 8 signings, 3 of them one year deals -- 2 of them minor, league deals.
The Indians have made three deals total, two minor league deals and a 1 year deal.
The Astros have made three deals total, 2 of them are 1 year signings.
The A's have made four deals -- half of them being 1 year deals.
The Brewers have made three signings, 2 minor league deals and a 1 year deal.
The Cubs have made three deals, two of them 1 year deals.
The Dodgers have made 5 deals, two of them 1 year deals, one of them a minor league deal.
The Rockies have signed one person this offseason.

Those were last years playoff teams -- the majority of their offseason signings have been 1 year deals or minor league signings..   Effing bottom feeders.

I was referring to the players in general

I was referring to the players in general. Every team is going have their share of one year signings. Your above average players you want to sign for multi year deals.

Cahill and Harvey don’t merit a multi year deal.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports that there are "mystery" teams in on free agent outfielder Bryce Harper.

It's early February and we're still no closer to figuring out this riddle. The Padres, Phillies, Nationals and White Sox have been reported as the likely frontrunners, but it's still possible we could see a surprise in the coming days. Sooner or later, something will have to give here. We're rooting for "sooner."

Hasn't this been reported multiple times before?  Clearly, no one knows anything at this stage.  Kind of funny at this point.

When Eppler said he stretched payroll to accommodate Allen, I have every reason to believe him.  We aren't signing Harper or Machado.  Despite the holdout, it's still more than likely Harper going to the Phillies, and Machado headed to the White Sox.  For Harper, the Phils are offering the most, but he doesn't want to play there if he doesn't have to.  THe NAts make sense but are only 11 million under the cap and have Robles ready.  The White Sox aren't out-bidding anyone for Harper.  And the Padres already have a glut of corner OF's.

Process of elimination says Harper is headed to the Phillies.  If there's a mystery team at all, it's the Blue Jays but again, they're rebuilding.

And for Machado, it's down to the Phillies, Padres and White Sox.  The Phillies already said "one, not both".  So if Harper is headed to Philadelphia, it's the White Sox vs Padres.  Both are young, but intend to compete in 2020 and beyond.  THey both have a need, and the only difference is that the White Sox have some serious connections with Machado.

So Harper Philadelphia, Machado Chicago, drama over.  Just play baseball.

-----Though I will add one ironic twist.  Neither Machado or Harper will make the playoffs in 2019. ---------------

Thanks for clearing that up for us dreamers. Although, if I had a choice I’d go with Machado over Harper.
