The lie was that the Georgia bill was intended to suppress votes of minorities. People believed that yet they had a very high turnout. Maybe people's own apathy towards voting is what is the bigger problem. I guess really bad inflation is enough to wake people up. The general election will be telling

Your comparison was spot on.

And the original draft of the bill was MUCH worse.  It was changed after a lot of complaints and protesting (not necessarily of the marching kind...just vocal protesting).
