Eppler seriously needs to consider a rebuild this offseason. This is absurd how bad we are, and I’m honestly starting to wonder if it can be fixed

As Doc said in a different thread, we’re in a rebuild and have been since Eppler got here.  We just aren’t in the type of rebuild that trades Trout or Simmons.

Fair point. Tough situation for sure and I was mostly just venting/being dramatic.

my question all offseason is the following and maybe you know better than I do: is there a path to success that we can reasonably take in the next 2 years to compete for a World Series? If the answer is no, and Trout doesn’t take what Is being offered, at that point I think it might be worth considering a trade. Also I’d move Simmons at that point.

i used to be a big fan of trying to win now but I am very discouraged about the lack of pitching this organization has from top to bottom. I know they’ve had injuries but they also have had no depth and outside of Canning I don’t see a ton of depth in the minors

I doubt I know better than you, I am simply more optimistic than the next guy.  I’d say this about Trout.  Offer him an extension this off season, after the big guys get signed, if he doesn’t accept then you have to start looking to move him around the trade deadline if the team is mediocre.  And yes if you trade Trout you might as well trade everyone.
