i have no idea where to look so i'll ask here.

anyone have any info on how the new home run line in right field affected the total number of homers this year? was it more, less, or no appreciable difference for this season? would be interesting to see a breakdown for comparison.

@Jeff Fletcher has there been any discussion of this by the team?

The Angels have hit 7 and the opponents have hit 13.

I was keeping track and I had 6 and 12, but they said 7 and 13 on the broadcast today so maybe I missed some.

Because of course

Thnx. Any comments from Sosh or Eppler about it yet?

Maybe you got list somewhere in the conversation but we were talking about hitting home runs to right field not giving them up.

I assume such changes have to be approved by MLB.  Wonder if there are any restrictions on changing it back.  Do they have to keep it as is for any length of time?

13 from our opponents vs. 7 for the halos?

damn.  that's like two wins.

that's a pretty significant fail by our stats department imo.

I wonder if they were counting on Calhoun and Valbuena to benefit from the change not anticipating they would epically collapse as hitters in general.

So you're telling me the team with almost all right handed hitters isn't hitting home runs to right field?

Whoa if true.

That and Calhoun and Ohtani have hit a bunch to centerfield and oppo this season.

I always assumed they were doing it for long term reasons.  I doubt they expected it to have an immediate positive effect.  I figured it was to help entice left handed hitters to play here and once that happens the results should even out.  It was never going to benefit the Angels more than opposing teams immediately given the fact they are a heavily RHH team.

At the end of the day, even if they had a fair amount of LHH, it is going to be about 50-50 at best.  That is why I figured the reasoning behind it was more long term (fans get to see more HRs, LHH may be a little more easily persuaded to sign here, etc.)
