in my school, we collect student phones when they arrive at homeroom and we keep them throughout the day, returning them when they leave. i'm glad i know about this alert because on thursday morning we're going to be finishing our standardized testing during that time, and the thought of a dozen cell phone emergency signals going off at once is something i'll need to plan for ahead of time.

If it's anything like the Amber Alerts on my phone (before I disabled them), it will be louder than standing next to a jet taking off on the runway.

My phone will be turned off Thursday morning at the appointed time. If the world's to end at that time, I don't want to be warned about it and deafened in the process.
