So I was doing the usual routine of reading Ohtani articles at the start of work and came across a really surprising stat. While Ohtani's splitter had the highest whiff rate of any pitch this year (minimum 100 pitches) Pena's slider had the 7th highest and Tropeano's changeup was 8th.

Admittedly as someone down on Tropeano I was pleasantly surprised and I still hope we can get some value for him in a trade. As for Pena I'm excited to see what he can bring to the team next season.

Pena, another one of Billy's genius finds?

Only one clunker start over his past close to 80 innings, and that was partly due to Upton's misplay in the first helping to open the flood gates.

If he finishes strongly in his last few starts, you pencil him in for next year.....

He has 115 innings under his belt (milb and mlb combined) so far, will probably finish with around 130 innings.    Next season, there's no reason that he can't pitch 162 innings, aside of course from the Halos injury curse.

Close to touching mid 90s with a solid slider out pitch, Bridwell he isn’t.
