The way to sign him is to include an opt-out clause in case we still can't get our act together and field a winning team around him.

That's a must. He'll have an incredible amount of money and the freedom to go elsewhere in search of postseason glory. The best of all worlds.

I know you are joking but my boss is a giant Phillies fan that lives in South Jersey and he says most of his friends are convinced Trout wants to come there.  My boss, to his credit, thinks that Trout will stay with the Angels.

I'm just glad the Angels are going to most likely try to extend him sooner rather than later.  Get things set with Trout and then figure out what to do around him.
